Tap, tap...is this thing on?

It's been so long since I've posted on here that I wasn't sure if I would remember my password...fortunately Google is all synchronized and took care of the remembering for me.

So, for anyone who's interested, here's what I've been up to in no particular order:

  • Planning a wedding
  • Planning what was a ridiculously fun bachelorette party
  • Navigating my way through a new position on my team at work
  • Planning a wedding
  • Babysitting to make more money to pay for a wedding
  • Dieting/working out/worrying about looking good in my dress
  • Collecting mason jars
  • Thinking about what still needs to be done for the planning of a wedding
In actuality, wedding planning isn't the only thing we've been up to...but at times it certainly feels that way!  Every time I feel pretty confident that we have a good handle on the planning process, I start talking to other brides in my office (there are 5 of us getting married this year!!) and realize that we have a long, long way to go before we're ready to host our big day. And then I start to worry...a lot.

I worry about being able to afford everything we have dreamed up, I worry about getting all the plans hammered out, I worry about spilling something on my dress before I walk down the aisle, I worry about being a sobbing, disgusting mess when my dad walks me down the aisle (seriously, I am so emotional lately! I cry at commercials and when an singer chooses a coach in The Voice- how am I supposed to keep my cool when my dad is walking me down the aisle to meet my husband?!) (and, for the record, I am an ugly, ugly crier), I worry about people not being able to come celebrate with us, I worry about weather interfering and keeping our guests and band from coming to town, I worry about shuttles not showing up so our guests are left waiting at the hotel, I worry about make up artists going rogue on my make up and making me look like a tranny...I worry. A lot.

But then I think about all the stuff we already have planned and I get excited. I get excited when I think about my dress and Will's reaction when he sees me in it for the first time. I get excited when I visualize our invitations, which are going to be fabulous.  I get excited when I think about dancing with my dad at the reception. I get excited when I think about all the people who will be able to make the journey to Nashville to celebrate with us. I get excited thinking the open bar, and the band, and my goal of having a packed dance floor all. Night. Long.  I get excited thinking about all the personal touches we have planned that make our wedding feel like "us". I get excited about putting our wedding photos up around our house (who cares that we don't have a photographer lined up yet?!).  In short, I am really, truly excited to marry Will and celebrate with all our friends and family, and that far outweighs the worry.

And in between all the wedding things going on, I recently started a new position on my team at work.  I have gone from 0-60 in no time at all, and have been a bit overwhelmed learning my new role. Suddenly there aren't enough work hours in the day to get everything done that I need to, which is far different from the work life I've been used to.  It's been a big adjustment, but I'm about 5 weeks in and starting to feel a lot more comfortable in my new role. Still busy as ever, but man, does it make the work week fly by! It's a welcome change, though, and I'm still really happy with my work life.

So...that's what I've been doing lately.  Please pardon my absence! Maybe I'll get around to updating this again before we actually tie the knot!  In the meantime,  check out our Save The Dates- personally, I absolutely love how they turned out!
